Roberto Lorenzo Rodríguez Pacheco

Dr. Roberto Lorenzo Rodríguez Pacheco is a Scientific Researcher at the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC), part of the Spanish National Research Council. He is a Geological Engineer, specialised in Groundwater Hydrogeology, with a PhD in Ground Engineering and postdoctoral training in Environmental Geochemistry. He has more than 30 years of experience in mining hydrogeology, environmental geochemistry, mine-waste management, tailings safety and acid mine drainage. He has participated in 30 R&D&I projects, including European, national and Latin American programmes, and has led several projects and industrial contracts. He has supervised five PhD theses, authored more than 190 scientific publications and is lead inventor of two patents. His current research focuses on circular mining, mine-water treatment, critical raw materials recovery, resource valorisation and the development of innovative technologies for the remediation and sustainable management of mining environmental liabilities.
